Iron Hill Construction Management (Iron Hill) recently completed the Design/Build renovation of The Palace at Somerset Park (The Palace) in Somerset, New Jersey. The Palace is one of the region’s premier indoor-outdoor wedding, conference, and special event venues, featuring two distinct neo-Palladian inspired mansions. Set on 30 acres of picturesque grounds, the venue was originally built by Iron Hill in 2005. To celebrate its 20-year anniversary, The Palace embarked on a $10-million project to update and enhance its space for the next generation of milestone events.
“This project was especially meaningful for our team, having originally built The Palace nearly 20 years ago,” says Mark Waddell, Director of Operations at Iron Hill. “The goal was to modernize the space while preserving the character and quality that has made it such a well-known venue.”
Phase 1 of renovations took place in the stunning East House and were completed in Spring 2025. The Grand Foyer was updated with new carpets, wall coverings, millwork, and lighting, while the East Ballroom was redone with soft, neutral, and sophisticated decor. The East Library was transformed into a trendy and contemporary cocktail hour space, and the gallery into a stylish lounge. Lastly, the Versailles Wedding Suite was redecorated into the perfect space for pre-wedding preparations.
Phase 2 of renovations in the West House began in early 2026 and opened to the public this Spring. The grand West Ballroom got a full makeover, with new chandeliers, carpets, and furnishing. The West Library was reimagined into an intimate bar area, perfectly suited for pre-reception drinks. The Palace introduced a brand-new West Groom Suite with a TV, poker table, and salon station, as well as a top-to-bottom remodel of the Kensington Bridal Suite.
Finally, the event venue will debut new indoor-outdoor pavilions in both the East and West Houses, expanding upon existing cocktail hour spaces. The new space will feature cozy fire pits, stunning views, and fresh air for guests to enjoy starting in May 2026.
“Every update was made with our guests in mind,” says Marc Hamel, President and
General Manager at The Palace. “From more inviting cocktail areas to upgraded suites and new indoor-outdoor spaces, we’ve created an environment that feels both elevated and comfortable- so every moment of the celebration feels special!”
These renovations reaffirm The Palace at Somerset Park’s reputation as a premier event destination. With modern enhancements and expanded offerings, the venue is poised to deliver exceptional experiences well into the future.
